Built mostly of old scrap steel, this kinetic sculpture is a fairly accurate but tongue-in-cheek model inspired by the great psychologist Carl Jung. Its pulleys, spinning mirrors and creaking parts demonstrate the psyche at work. At the bottom one can see the parts that Jung's mentor Freud identified. Jung built upon and transformed Freud's simple map. What we see is the range of archetypes, how they are arrayed into the projective mechanism, how they become illuminated in dreams. Included is the mirror of "myth" that allows us to peer into the otherwise murky depths of a psyche that is otherwise invisible to us. That is, until this ripping model came along!
