Memorial to the victims of the Tiananmen Square massacre. Following the 1989 massacre this sculpture was used to raise money to get the word back into China of what had really happened there. The news was faxed to random phones all over China in what's called the "First FAX revolution in history" American sales of this sculpture was what funded that project, one of the pivotal freedom events of the 20th century. The design, commissioned by the Chinese dissident students themselves, combines an antique form of the word "peace" with the form of a leaping figure, symbolizing the non-violent character of the Chinese democracy movement.
